American Government 11/17/09

In Class - Continue and finish Educational Bill Presentations. Turn in questions from today and yesterday. Handout out group reflection and group member evaluations. Each group member is to evaluate the other group members (not including yourself). Your group reflection and group member evaluation is due tomorrow.

World History 11/17/09

In Class - Read and discuss article concerning child labor and its relevance to the Industrial Revolution. Discuss positive and negative aspects of Industrial Revolution. Discuss primary sources concerning incidents involving children in factories. Hang onto Industrial Revolution handout from yesterday.

American Government 11/16/09

In Class - Turn in final draft of Educational Reform Bill. We will begin presentations today. Students are to write down questions while the presentations are given and ask them. The presentations will serve as a question and answer forum.

Homework - If already presented, then none. Still need to present? Prepare for presentation.

World History 11/16/09

In Class - Play Industrial Revolution Board Games. Form groups of 5-6 and spend 8-10 minutes playing one another's game. Have fun. Hang onto the homework from Friday (Article concerning child labor). Handout Industrial Revolution worksheet.

Homework - Summarize the article and compare how the events and scenarios in the article pertain to the similarities of child labor during the Industrial Revolution. Complete Industrial Revolution handout.

In Class - Read comments from peer editing on Tuesday. Hand back graded 1st draft of policies. Most of you still have a lot of work to do. Continue to research (check the articles below). Discuss the changes and suggestions that need to be made. Tomorrow will be your last day as a group to work on these. Presentations begin on Monday, November 16.

Homework - Continue to modify and change your proposal (based on the peer editing and my suggestions). Final draft due on Monday, November 16. Presentations begin on Monday as well.

EXTRA CREDIT - Upon receiving the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, President Obama has received some criticism about whether or not he deserved to win such an esteemed award. In your opinion, do you think President Obama deserved to win the award? Why or why not?

Do some research on this topic (check articles below) and write a one and a half to two page (typed, double spaced) response to this question. Use evidence from the articles to make rational and solid arguments. You may do additional research as well. You must also include a works cited page along with your response.
